Training tips or tricks: Enjoy everything about what you are doing; it will make it all easier and inevitably you will have an even better time.
Your best day riding: Probably riding the Elevation jumps in 06 with Strait, Andreu and a few other people. Definitely the best trails I’ve ever ridden.
What drives you to ride every day? So many different things… It always boils down to having a good time, but learning new tricks, hanging out with your friends, the drive to win, exercise… Changes all the time, but on a good day all of the above apply.
Who are your main influences? My friends. I get so pumped when I see friends like Cam Mccaul lay something down, or Adam Jones winning an FMX contest. Keeps me amped and ready to go do something cool myself.
MUSIC that you listen to? Listening to Pretty Lights right now for the first time ever. Favorite bands are As I Lay Dying, Trivium and All That Remains, but I listen to everything from Grieves, to Major Lazer to Hank Williams Jr.
Most memorable moment this year? The last jump at Crankworx in Whistler. Every time you come into that corral at the end it is the most amazing feeling and to have had such a lame past couple of years, to land a winning run… Indescribable.
What would you do if mountain biking wasn’t your job? Hopefully be racing moto for a living. Probably be putting more time into running Sensus or another company.
Do you have any spiritual beliefs? Newp.
Do you think mountain biking has something spiritual? No, it just feels amazing. If you consider being out in nature and enjoying yourself to be spiritual then sure.
What are your plans next year? Stay healthy and everything seems to fall into place. That’s when good things happen.
What do you get out of mountain biking? I get my life out of mountain biking. Nearly everything in my life has to do with the sport I love. And life is good.
Secrets? I’m really 40 years old.
